Here we are in the heart of the Langhe region, high in the hills of Diano d’Alba, the historic home of Dolcetto wine. The estate was founded in 1928 and is now owned by Beppe and Claudia who produce the traditional varietals of this area: Dolcetto, Barbera, Nebbiolo. They also grow a small amount of red and white French grapes; all their grapes are cultivated without the use of synthetic antifungicidals or mold inhibitors.

The harvest of 2012 was the first year of production of the Barolo “Contadin,” named in honor of Simone Castella, Claudia’s father, a key supporter in the development of the vineyard. His stylized portrait dominates the label.

The grapes are planted with a low density to ensure each bunch stays healthy and reaches full maturity. Synthetic products are strictly avoided in the vineyard, both to safeguard the environment as well as to protect the spontaneity and vitality of the terrain. The vineyards are divided up into parcels, each dedicated to a specific wine. Together they create a beautiful, scenic landscape.
