Vineyard location
The La Sibilla estate, in the province of Naples, is in the heart of Campi Flegrei a Bacoli, not far from Antro della Sibilla Cumana. A land of myths and legends, the home of the Di Meo family for five generations.
Production philosophy
A philosophy based on respect for the oenological and gastronomic traditions of pairing and drinkability, inherited from our grandparents, our winemaking heroes. The ten hectares of vineyards are still in full production with centuries-old native Falanghina and Piedirosso vines clinging to chestnut stakes, according to tradition. Vincenzo Di Meo, oenologist and owner of the estate, has also started to recover old native vines such as 'a livella, 'a surcella and 'a marsigliese with the precise aim of producing wines with a flavour of the past, using modern production technologies.
Bottles that defy time, characterful flavours, fruits of the past returned to us from the volcanic ashes, expressions of both the new winegrowers and their predecessors.
The vines, grown on sandy soils of volcanic origin and immune to phylloxera, are a veritable plant museum. Divided into two main sections, the first near the winery and the second near the Roman villa, known as Caesar's Villa, in the WWF nature reserve, they produce excellent wines with distinctive characteristics, preserving the land and, at times, saving it from abandonment and unauthorized use.
Through support for the vocation of the land and love for the work in the vineyard, La Sibilla produces wines with a marked personality: wines to be appreciated precisely because they are never the same, except in quality.
The volcanic soils of this area, combined with the use of modern winemaking technologies, produce wines that are always fresh, fragrant and wonderfully expressive of the terroir. The area is particularly suited to white grape varieties such as Falanghina, which here displays a mineral power and very special spontaneous aromas.
