Vineyard location
This is the heart of the rugged and generous area of Irpinia. Arenitic limestone soil, and a microclimate with typically hot dry days and cool breezes, producing tangy flavoursome wines that can stand the test of time. Traerte means “among mountain roads”, which are known locally as “erte”.
Production philosophy
All the labels are devoted to purely native varieties. For almost ten years, the estate’s sole mission has been improving and pursuing excellence in the production and marketing of wine obtained from the typical grapes of the area, exclusively white and with no use of wood, specifically to enhance the varietal expression of the individual vines.
The first bottle of Coda di Volpe Vadiaperti was made back in 1993, and by chance: until then Coda di Volpe had been used in the Greco di Tufo according to the production specifications then, and still today. Since then Raffaele and his father Antonio have invested considerable effort and energy in finding "pieces" of vineyards in the Irpinia countryside or even single rows of Coda di Volpe from which they can take grapes to make this wine - always with the agreement of local producers, who now produce it specifically for them.
