Agricola Palazzo is a winery with a beautiful history behind it. Just over four hectares of vines on excellent vineyard land located on the south-eastern side of Montalcino, run by a family that has grown up in wine. The story begins with Cosimo Loia and his wife Antonietta Palazzo, who moved to the United Kingdom soon after their marriage, in order to seek their fortune.
In the early eighties the couple returned to their homeland and in 1983 Cosimo Loia bought an eighteenth-century farm. The dream was to rebuild and modernize the farmstead and cellar, curiously already named “Palazzo,” which the couple saw as a sign of destiny, being the same surname as Cosimo’s wife, Antonietta. The winery practices "Integrated Agriculture," which is a whole farm management system aiming to deliver more sustainable agriculture, using only organic fertilizers and pesticides for organic cultivation. The soils have layers of original rocks, in particular marl, and are rich in limestone and clays.
The vineyards, immersed in a splendid panorama, are exposed to the sun from morning until evening, and are well protected from the sea breezes. A strict manual pruning, during the vegetative cycle between fall and winter, allows the grapes to ripen well during the summer, before being harvested completely by hand.
Today the fourth generation is the face of the company, with a host of achievements under their belts, as well as wide international success.
