It all began in 1979 when the families of the three partners – Girolamo D'Amico, Louis Rapini and Ulrico Priore – shared their winemaking experiences. Louis's experience was fundamental, as he learned the job by following his father when he worked in a Champagne cellar in France.  The experiences of Girolamo and Ulrico were also significant in recognising the potential of their own territory, while working with their parents to produce local wines. 

In 1979 the D'Araprì winery was founded. The name is an acronym of the initials of the three founders, who were among the first in Daunia to show the foresight and courage to believe and invest in producing Bombino Bianco sparkling wine.
