The Commune of Parcines is located at a height of over 2000 feet above sea level in the mountains of Alto Adige.  It was here that Baron Sigmund von Kripp founded Azienda Agricola Stachlburg in 1990.  After many years of study in Germany, Kripp returned to his father’s family land and planted his first vineyards, pinot nero and chardonnay.  The sunny south facing slopes at this altitude produce wines of great intensity, with many of the grapes cultivated and harvested entirely by hand.
